Hello, fellow Sickos, you likely followed this twitter account and didn’t know what you fully stumbled into. Well, we welcome you to the Sickos Committee and now it’s time to vote for the Sickos Top 25 End of Season Poll.
For many of you, this may be your first time being tasked to vote in a Sickos Committee poll, and you might not know what to do. Well, Sickos Commissioner Escalante has made this for you.
A link to a Google form will be posted on Twitter and in here. You will be able to select your Top 10 Sickos Teams for the 2022 College Football season as of now then End of the Regular Season (We know there is the Akron vs Buffalo, Army vs Navy game and maybe New Mexico State schedules another one, who knows).
(We require a Google sign in to try to limit everyone to one ballot and we do NOT collect email addresses.)
You may ask yourself, What is a Sickos team exactly?
Well that’s completely up to you! Keep in mind these are teams you want to watch during the season based on whatever you deem “unconventionally appealing”.
Is it a team who may have a coach on the hot seat or a team who already fired their coach in season or right after the season ended? Is it a team who was ranked in the preseason AP Poll that has not so gloriously fell out of the Top 25 rankings and struggled to make it to 6-6 or wasn’t bowl eligible? Is it a team with a historically awful offense but they find interesting ways to score points on defense? Is it a team with an incredible punter? Is it a G5 team who upset a Power 5 team and then immediately lost to another G5 team the next week? Is it a team you have to jump through hoops just to watch them on an app or another streaming service? Maybe a team who unexpectedly fired their coach? Maybe a team who got blown out a bunch?
Now Sickos can mean many things and being a Sickos team isn’t always a bad thing. Here are some possible examples of being a “good” Sickos team.
Is it a team who is unexpectedly good and you don’t know they keep winning games? Maybe they ran a fire drill field goal for a win? Is it a plucky G5 team who has played spoiler and has had the most dramatic games so far this year? Is it a team who hasn’t been ranked since 2009? Is it a team who hadn’t beaten a ranked team since 1984? Is it a team that plays in the most one possession games and they somehow always walk out of there with a win? Is it a team who hadn’t been ranked since 1998 and they are leading their conference? A G5 team who was supposed to be really awful but somehow they’re 4-4 or 4-5 and they are flirting with bowl eligibility? A team who fired their coach and now can’t stop winning games? Is it a team who upset many teams unexpectedly but couldn’t win normal games?
Or maybe you have random reasons for voting for Sickos teams.
Is it a team who has a coach who did a crazy dance in the locker room after an upset win? A coach who talked trash and it backfired or worked out? A team that somehow won a game after making the most incredible turnover or Sickos play? Maybe a team who had a field goal doink in the weirdest way? Or maybe punted a ball off their punt protector? (this happened in college football too this year). A team who won a game with their 4th string QB?
You ultimately get to decide who are your Top 10 Sickos teams based on whatever criteria you use. Since Sickos is incredibly undefinable, the choice is up to you and who you feel.
(Also, if you feel like some team or person is really Sickos in another sport like F1, NASCAR, MLB, NBA, etc, you can submit those choices in your ballot also and we track those categories in others receiving votes, we just ask you to not be derogatory please.)
Wherever you place them in the poll, that team would get a corresponding amount of votes:
1st place = 10 pts.
2nd place = 9 pts.
3rd place = 8 pts.
4th place = 7 pts.
5th place = 6 pts.
6th place = 5 pts.
7th place = 4 pts.
8th place = 3 pts.
9th place = 2 pts.
10th place = 1 pt.
We will close the poll on Wednesday November 2nd at 9pm CST and tabulate the votes.
I’ve linked the poll here The 2022 Sickos End of Season Poll
We will release the Sickos End of Season Top 25 Poll on likely on Sunday December 4th around 6pm CST.
We will also continue the polling with our final poll of the year just before the Conference championship games (After November 26th).
Thank you for participating and we cannot wait for the results of the poll and to crown our Sickos National Champion for 2022!!
Also, stay tuned as the after the Sickos National Champion is crowned, we will do a food drive for the winning city of the Sickos Champion.
If you needed inspiration, here was the November Poll for the 2022 season (including the others receiving votes):
I have a few pedantic questions. My very very critical tenth place vote hinges on this!
1. can we vote for a defunct team? For instance, the Oorang Indians. (throw on fictional teams too, why not?) My guess is no.
2. can we vote for a previous incarnation of a current team? For instance, the Houston Oilers and not the Tennessee Titans.
