The State of the Sickos Committee

Hello fellow Committee Members, Commissioner Escalante here to provide you with an update on the current state of the Sickos Committee. As you know we didn’t intend for this Sickos Committee account to expand to the large following we have amassed over the past two years. We originally meant for the twitter account to entertain about 20 of us with bad jokes (we know we’re not funny) and just to enjoy watching what we dubbed “Sickos” games by whatever definition of Sickos we made up that week. We’ve expanded into College Basketball (@SickosCBB), started a new Baseball (@SickosofSummer) and new Hockey (@SickosonIce) accounts. We’ve gained an extremely large following with 88,000 followers on the main account along with many others on our Instagram (SickosCommittee Instagram) and Subreddit (r/SickosCommitteeCFB). Also, we launched a Sickos Committee Podcast and Substack (you’re reading it right now) last year with many readers and listeners too! With all of that being said, we just wanted to reiterate we’re really just normal people who are having fun posting random things about the sports and teams we love. 

Now to really get to the point of what I am writing here. 

The Sickos Committee has formed an LLC to continue to bring you the content we love to tweet and make weird graphics about. We will operate this as somewhat of a side business in our spare time because we all still have normal jobs like the “normal” people we are. 

We recently signed a contractual agreement with the cartoonist Ward Sutton. He owns the Sickos character who we all know and love. We will produce merchandise to sell to you in many forms (please suggest things you’d buy from us below in the comments). He made some special Sickos Guy cartoons exclusively for the Sickos Committee because Ward is absolutely awesome and we are eternally grateful for this partnership. The slight majority of the proceeds of that Sickos Committee exclusive merchandise will go to Ward. Don’t worry we will still benefit from the sales too of this merchandise too in our agreement. We will also make other merchandise that is exclusively our own. As for the date of a store going live, we are not sure but we will let you know once it goes live but it should be soon as we're trying to design some products for y’all. 

Also, we have been working on a Patreon. As you may or may not know, our Committee was formed in a Discord owned and operated by others but they’ve given us permission to sell a membership to the same Discord we were formed in. We always debate the weekly game rankings in the Discord during the season and we’d love more input from y’all if you’d join the future Patreon. The Discord is a super welcoming and a very friendly environment with people from all walks of life and all fandoms of really any sport. We’ve got channels for books, video games, podcasts, fandoms of other podcasts. We’ve even got channels where you can watch live events with the other discord members in a live chat form. We don’t know a date of Patreon going live yet but you can sign up for the wait list here if you’d like. (Upcoming Patreon Waitlist) Also, on the Patreon, there will be a sign up for a monthly contribution to the Sickos Committee LLC if you’d like to support our business venture without the Discord benefits for a lower cost.

Our goals at the Sickos Committee have changed a little bit. We really want to travel to come see all of our fans and watch college football with you no matter where your team is or how good they are. Because we believe that “all football is good football, y’all!™”

In an ideal world, we could host a Sickos Committee Gameday outside the Kibbie Dome, maybe in Muncie, Indiana or travel back to Las Cruces for more awesome green and red chiles on all the delicious food. It would be amazing if we could do that on a weekly basis but that’s really not possible yet or maybe if we find a miracle in the form of a large media company who will pay for us to do it, we’d sign up immediately. Or maybe if one of us wins the lottery! (fingers crossed) 

The Sickos Substack here will remain free for the time being as we’re not really writers by trade and we don’t want to promise an allotted amount of content. We will give you a heads up if we decide to change the Substack but we don’t have any future plans right now to change it. 

As for the Sickos Committee Podcast, please continue to download, subscribe and rate us with 5 stars. (Hell, download it in multiple apps and steal your parent’s phones or go to cell phone stores and download it there too) We’re working on actually getting some theme music and who knows some crazy advertisers may want to run ads on our little podcast. We will still try to crank out two shows a week, normally available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings each week.
